Sovereign Hill’s Winter Wonderlights Return This Winter

by Ben Tyers

It’s pretty hard to find fault with Australia, but if there was one particular thing that you could nitpick, it might be that we don’t get to enjoy the white Christmas that we heard in songs, and watched in movies when we were younger.

Thankfully the geniuses from Sovereign Hill have come to our aid and are putting on their amazing Winter Wonderlights event yet again this winter.

Winter Wonderlights will run from Saturday 29 June until Sunday 21 July and saw 95,000 visitors set their eyes on the spectacle of lights and performances in 2018.

This year’s event will feature more than 15kms of fairy lights set up throughout Sovereign Hill, flames erupting from the chimney, faux snow throughout the village, a European street market, and 25 of Sovereign Hill’s buildings will be lit up with large-scale light projections.

This year’s Winter Wonderlights will also see the introduction of a new sound and light show named Aura. The show is an immersive storytelling experience set under the stars that will also run until Sunday 21 July.
